One winter wedding, two happy couples, three ex-boyfriends… And a very uncomfortable weekend.
Carol hates Christmas. Being recently dumped, she’s not crazy about weddings either. So her sister Marley’s nuptials, over the Christmas weekend, are making her positively Scrooge-like.
When she arrives for the weekend at the stately home in rural Scotland to find her three ex-boyfriends in attendance, Carol has no choice but to face her ghosts to discover what really happened in those relationships, learning a lot about herself in the process. As the snow falls outside and the fire crackles in the hearth, might one of the wedding guests become the harbinger of Christmases to come?
Michele Gorman brings us a delightfully witty and thought provoking novella that will bring the festivities of Christmas to any home!
When you think of a Christmas Carol your imagination conjures up ghosts from Christmas’ past, present and future, well not any more.
Instead it’s relationships that are revisited when Carol finds herself in Scotland for her sisters wedding!
For Carol a headstrong perfectionist, could this be the wake up call she needs.
Carol is quite a sarcastic character and to people around her she comes across as somewhat aloof, but at the same time there’s something endearing about the way she looks out for her family.
I love the dynamics of her and her sister Marley’s relationship, they make for some comedy moments, particularly when Marley is in bridezilla mode.
The descriptions of Scotland in the winter made the book feel extra festive and had me longing to set up the Christmas decorations.
A wonderful read that certainly left me wanting more.
I would like to thank Notting Hill press for sending me a copy to review.
